Invisalign: An Revolutionary Solution
Invisalign is a revolutionary advancement for patients who want to align crooked or crowded teeth without the all of the problems associated with traditional metal braces. Using a series of thin, transparent, custom-made aligners, the treatment is virtually invisible, yet able to steadily shift your teeth into the correct position. Before beginning your treatment at St. Matthews Dental Care in Louisville, Kentucky, our dentist will work with you to create a treatment plan that meets your unique needs and alignment goals.
Evaluation for Treatment
As Invisalign doesn't work for every situation, our dentist must first conduct an oral evaluation to determine if you qualify for the treatment.
Creating a Treatment Plan
If Invisalign is determined to be an effective fit for you, our dentist will begin customizing your treatment plan. This process involves creating comprehensive 3D digital images of your teeth, or you can choose to utilize traditional dental impressions. If you decide to opt for 3D imaging, the iTero digital scanning system will provide you with virtual results that show the exact movements your teeth need to make as well as a preview of the expected outcome.
Obtaining Your Invisalign Aligners
The Invisalign treatment consists of a set of transparent aligners. They are typically made of a BPA-free, SmartTrack material, and can be removed easily, making it extremely convenient to brush and floss your teeth as you normally would.
Although Invisalign aligners are removable, our dentist will recommend wearing them the majority of the day and night. Additionally, they will be replaced by our dentist weekly or twice per month, depending on your specific case. Such frequent replacements are necessary to achieve the perfect alignment.
Proper Care During and After Treatment
Our dentist will provide you with useful instructions and recommendations on how to safely clean and care for your aligners. After eating, be sure to brush your teeth as well as your aligners before placing them back in the mouth. This process will reduce the risk of bacteria growth. After you have completed your Invisalign treatment, our dentist will most likely recommend wearing a retainer to stabilize your teeth in their new position.
Credit and Payment
Our office accepts a variety of payment options for our Invisalign procedure, including Care Credit. Speak with a member of our team to learn more about your options.

Teens have a lot on their plates between school, extracurricular activities and socializing with friends. Finding out they need braces can add one more stressor to an already lengthy list! Modern orthodontics have come a long way in recent years, and braces are now less obvious and more comfortable.
Invisalign Teen is a clear aligner system providing a nearly invisible way of straightening teeth using clear, removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teen’s teeth. These aligners replace the wires, brackets, and bands that traditional braces use. Invisalign Teen can successfully treat most mild to moderate cases of underbite, overbite, overcrowding, and gaps between the teeth.Read more about Invisalign Teen
Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth, changing their color, shape, size or length.
What Type of Problems Do Porcelain Veneers Correct?
- Teeth that are discolored -- either because of root canal treatment, stains from tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride or the presence of large resin fillings that have discolored the tooth
- Teeth that are worn down
- Teeth that are chipped or broken
- Teeth that are misaligned, uneven or irregularly shaped
- Teeth with gaps between them
Porcelain veneers are stronger and more durable than composite resin veneers and last 10 to 15 years, while composite resin veneers last between five and seven years. Porcelain veneers also resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. As you might assume, porcelain veneers cost significantly more than composite veneers.
